LE - Limited Edition.

True to her name she was one of a kind with the typical Jack Russell attitude adopted from her dad BuddyBoy007, and yet having a sweet side she developed on her own.  She liked to cuddle and snuggle up to me while I read my books and she had a little bed at my feet while I worked on the computer.  She was always ready to go and at times would be out in the yard on her own just to make sure nothing new had come along.

On one occasion while I was working on the agility equipment she was anxious to get going and I told her she had to wait for a while so I could finish putting the teeter together.  She went off with her nose to the ground and I carried on with the task at hand.

When all was completed I took Buddy Boy for a couple of test runs around the circuit and everything was good to go.  As a rule when ever I started to give Buddy Boy the commands, Jump, left Ring, Jump, Jump, right Teeter... LE would be there in a flash egging him on so she could have her turn.  This time there was no sign of her so I went to the front yard looking for her and seen that someone had left the gate open.  I left Buddy Boy there and walked up the road to the store where the employees had been in the habit of giving her treats when ever we visited.  I arrived at the store and LE was no where in site so I asked the attendants if they had seen my little girl.  They said they had not so I went back outside t continue my search.  When the door closed behind me I looked up and spotted her across the highway and at that same moment she seen me and made a dash to great me.  Before I could give the command for her to sit and stay she was on the road in front of a pickup truck.  The truck hit her hard and she went under and as the pickup sped off she never moved.  I picked her lifeless body up in my arms and went home with very big tears and a pain that hurt my soul.

As I opened the gate to our yard Buddy Boy was there to great us and as soon as he seen LE his ears dropped and he stood looking up at me in disbelief.  He followed me to the shop and lie on the floor near his companion as I built a box to put her in.

When the box was finished I put LE in side and closed the lid with a few nails and then I took it into the forest where we often walked and placed it in a hole I dug at the base of a fir tree.  I covered it up and place the sign over it, "LE - Limited Edition the best little dog ever."  Taken from me because I was carless and did not deserve such a friend.  Buddy Boy gave the area a sniffle and then walked home with me.  We were both sad, but I was grateful that she had passed without suffering and without causing harm to the driver of the truck.

No matter what your faith is never put your trust in something you can not see.  Your Jack Russell only has faith in you and believes that you will always watch out for them and protect them form harm.  I now believe there is nothing wrong with a collar and a leash when near anything with tires and always double check and lock all gates to you domain.
